Life Before, During and After Employment: A Purpose-Driven Life
A retirement-readiness programme that shifted participants from seeing retirement as a money event to a planned life system, closing with 30-60-90 day action plans.
The challenge
Participants met "Mr. Calvin", who owned land, shops and livestock yet kept failing in business because he lacked the internal software — mindset, discipline, record-keeping and emotional regulation — needed to run one. The core risk: entering business (farming, transport, retail) without records, controls or market analysis.
Our approach
EFIC facilitators used the hardware-vs-software metaphor to shift focus from receiving a pension to building a life architecture, blending technical sessions on fund management (UTT AMIS) and agribusiness (Malembo) with psychological preparation.
The results
Participants moved from seeing retirement as a money event to a planned life system, leaving with a 30-60-90 day action plan to hold family conversations and formalise their financial records. Key lesson: install business readiness and personal discipline before scaling physical assets.
